This is a national Scouting America safety rule.

Where Packs Can Camp

Your pack can hold overnight campouts at:
• Council-approved Cub Scout campsites and Council owned properties
• A location that has been approved through the council inspection process

If a site is not on the council approved list, it must be inspected before your pack can use it.

How to Request a New Camping Site

If your pack wants to camp somewhere new:

  1. Submit a Site Inspection Request on the NWGA council website below.
  2. The council will review your request.
  3. A Council Site Assessment Team will visit the location and complete the national site appraisal form.
  4. The council will determine if the site is approved for Cub Scout camping.
  5. If approved, the location will be added to the NWGA Approved Cub Scout Campsite List.

Packs cannot approve their own campsites.

Leadership Requirements for Cub Scout Camping

Every Cub Scout overnight campout must have: A BALOO-trained adult leader present, Two-deep leadership, compliance with Safeguarding Youth Protection policies

These rules apply to all Cub Scout camping activities.

Arrow of Light Camping with a Troop

Arrow of Light Scouts can camp with a Scouts BSA troop if:

• They attend as an Arrow of Light den or patrol
• Their pack provides two-deep leadership
• A BALOO-trained leader is present
• All Cub Scout camping rules are followed

Why This Policy Exists

Cub Scouts are younger than Scouts BSA youth, and camping locations must support:

• family participation
• safe facilities
• appropriate sanitation
• manageable outdoor environments

The council review process helps ensure that all Cub Scout camping locations meet these standards.

Currently the below sites are confirmed:

Camp Sidney Dew

Camp Westin
